Caption Kit was built so that your videos never have to leave your device. This page explains the little that does leave it, why, and what you can do about it.
What stays on your device
Your video, the captions you edit, your transcripts, the fonts you add and the files you export. The app keeps your work in your browser's own storage so it's there when you come back; we never receive it. Clearing this site's data in your browser wipes it.
What leaves your device, and why
- The sound of your video — sent to a speech-recognition service to turn speech into timed words. It passes through our server without being saved, and it is never used to train AI.

Your sign-in details, once you make an account:
- Google sign-in: your name, email address and profile photo. That's all we ask Google for — not your password, your emails, your files or your contacts.
- Email sign-in: just your email address. We sign you in with a one-time link or code, so there's no password for us to keep.
- Your plan and minutes — the plan you're on, the transcription minutes you've used, and a record of your payments (the Razorpay payment ID, amount and date).
- Payments — you pay on Razorpay's secure checkout. Your card, bank and UPI details go to Razorpay only; they never reach us.
- Request logs — the pages asked for, errors and similar technical details, which help us keep the site up and block abuse.

Nobody else gets your data. We don't sell it, rent it, or use it for advertising.
Cookies and storage
A sign-in cookie keeps you logged in. The app's own storage holds your work, as above. There are no advertising cookies and no trackers following you around the web.
How long we keep things
- The sound of your video: not at all, beyond the moment it's transcribed.
- Your account, plan and minutes: while your account is open, and gone within 30 days of closing it.
- Payment records: for as long as tax law asks us to.
- Request logs: no more than 30 days.
Your choices
Ask us for a copy of what we hold about you, to fix something that's wrong, or to close your account and erase your data. Write to support@captionkit.in from the email address on your account, and we'll act on it within 15 days. These are your rights under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.
When this page changes
We'll update the date at the top. If a change affects how your data is used, account holders will hear from us by email at least a week before it applies.
